Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, and in accordance with all the official guidelines, we have taken the decision to suspend all activities at the Centre, which will now remain closed until further notice.

We are monitoring the situation closely, and are now delivering some of our ‘Just Meditation’ drop-in sessions online. Please scroll down for more information, and sign up to our mailing list or keep an eye on our Facebook page for regular updates.

Important Announcement

In common with many other organisations, large and small, the present situation poses a very real threat to the survival of the Meditation Centre. As a charity, run by volunteers, we operate on a very tight budget, and we are heavily dependent on the generosity of our supporters.

With the Centre currently closed, we are unable to generate any revenue from our usual activities – and yet we still have to find in excess of £1000 per month just to cover our basic overheads (e.g. rent, utilities etc). This period of closure could force us out of business altogether. Please consider supporting our fundraising campaign to enable the Centre to re-open after the present crisis. For more information about how to support the Centre, see here.

Online 'drop-in' Meditation Sessions

In the meantime we are offering the following timetable of drop-in meditation sessions online via Zoom as a way of connecting with our community and continuing to make the benefits of meditation ‘accessible, affordable and available to all’ at a time when those benefits are most needed. For more information about our online sessions, click here.

Mondays 8.00-8.20 am

Wednesdays 10.30-11.30 am

Drop-in classes

Today meditation and mindfulness are more popular than ever, but finding out how to learn or practice meditation can be difficult and confusing. There are so many different techniques and teachings available: it is hard sometimes to know where to start.

The best way to learn how to meditate is by attending a class or workshop, such as the ‘Just Meditation’ drop-in classes provided at the Centre. There is no substitute for learning with an experienced practitioner, and a group of other people on the same path.

About us

The Newcastle Mindfulness and Meditation Centre is a registered charity operating in Newcastle City Centre. We provide a safe, welcoming and ideologically neutral space, wholly dedicated to the learning and practice of mindfulness and meditation.

We believe it is the first independent high street meditation centre of its kind in the UK.

At the Centre you can attend drop-in classes, courses and workshops, together with a range of other activities, including research seminars, discussion groups and social events. Bespoke packages can also be arranged for groups and organisations.

Drop-in Classes, Courses and Workshops

We host a variety of courses, at different times throughout the year, as well as regular Saturday Afternoon Workshops on a wide range of topics related to mindfulness and meditation: the perfect way to deepen your understanding and practice.

It is our goal to make the benefits of meditation accessible, affordable and available to all.

Opening Times

The Centre is currently only open for drop-in classes and other scheduled activities. Please get in touch if you would like to visit.

We are always keen to hear from people willing to volunteer at the Meditation Centre, whether by simply being there so that we can have the place open, or leading activities.

For any expressions of interest, please either speak to someone at the centre or get in touch via the contact page.

Using the Space

Groups and individuals are welcome to use the space for meditation and related activities, at reasonable rates for a prime city centre location.

Our upstairs meditation room has space to seat 24 people comfortably. Please be aware that unfortunately there is no lift.

Course Facilitators

We are always looking for people to facilitate courses and workshops at the centre. If you have a course or workshop you would like to deliver in central Newcastle, that is relevant to the practice of mindfulness and meditation, then please get in touch and lets have a chat about it.

The Newcastle Meditation Centre is easy to get to by public transport, being just a short walk from Central Station. There are a few parking meters on Westgate Road, and nearby carparks at Times Square and Grainger Town multi-story.
