Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the classes held?
The meditation room is upstairs at 71b Westgate Road. Unfortunately there is no lift in the building.

What style of meditation do you teach?
The basic technique we teach at the Centre is essentially ‘mindfulness of breathing’. If you prefer to use a ‘mantra’, or have an existing meditation practice, that is fine – all are welcome to join our classes.

When are the sessions?
There are weekly drop-in classes, as well as a wide range of courses and workshops. Please check our website, Facebook and Eventbrite pages for details of all our events and activities, including Saturday afternoon workshops, courses, seminars, discussion groups and social events.

I’ve never meditated before: are your classes suitable for beginners?
Our drop-in classes are suitable for all levels of experience, whether you are a complete beginner or have been practising for many years. These sessions are led by a facilitator, who will offer some guidance so don’t worry if you’ve never tried it before.

Is it necessary to book in advance?
There is no need to book in advance for our regular drop-in classes, but do please arrive in good time. Other courses and workshops usually require advance booking, which can be done via Eventbrite or by contacting the Centre directly.

How much does it cost?
We do not make a formal charge for the drop-in classes, but invite people to make a voluntary donation. Other activities, such as courses and workshops, may be chargeable.
