Exploring Mindful Movement Through Qigong Ilona Tate

This workshop will explore the benefits of moving meditation, through the practice of qigong. Qigong is similar in feel to tai chi, with gentle, flowing movements that follow the breath, but has no martial art applications. Following an introduction to the philosophy and a description of the health benefits, we will learn a simple sequence called the Open Door Five, which can be practised at home. The aim is to relax the body, still the mind, harmonise movement and mindful breathing, so that we experience an awareness and an enjoyment of our innate aliveness.

Ilona Tate has taught tai chi and qigong to individuals and organisations in London and Newcastle for over 20 years and is a qualified Shiatsu Practitioner with the European Shiatsu School. She has recently been accepted by Master Joe Lok (Hong Kong) as a senior student and instructor and teaches a qigong system called Phoenix in Graceful Clouds of Blessing. Ilona’s emphasis in her teaching is on self-healing and self-acceptance.
